On Monday, July 19th Halton Hills residents joined Mayor Rick Bonnette and Members of Council to celebrate the official opening of the Superior Glove Splash Pad. Located at Prospect Park at 30 Park Avenue (corner of Park Ave. and Knox Street).

“It’s great to see so many families enjoying the opening. Seeing the hundreds of kids here today confirms that the splash pad is much needed and will be well used,” shared Mayor Bonnette. “Council is in full support of this project and we are looking forward to the tremendous benefits this park will have on the community.”

The Superior Glove Splash Pad was made possible through the generosity of local donors. Mr. Joe Geng, Vice President of Superior Glove was on hand as Superior’s generous donation of $75,000 was recognized. “We are always happy to contribute to our community and the splash pad is a perfect example of how we can give back and help bring families together,” shared Geng during the opening celebration. Holcim Canada (Dufferin Aggregates) was recognized for their donation of $20,000 worth of coloured concrete, and was represented by staff members Ross McCabe and Thomas Dunlop.

When over 100 kids were taking a break from the water, volunteers provided activities such as face painting, temporary tattoos, and crafts. Staff also held a lifejacket clinic in support of water safety and drowning prevention.

The total budget for the splash pad was $540,000 and was built by General Contractors, Marshall Finamore of Guelph, and features 33 jets and sprays in three unique “fish themed” water play zones. Superior Glove Splash Pad is open daily from 10 am to 8 pm (weather permitting), and closes for the season after Labour Day weekend.
