You have read about the water fluoridation issue in the Independent, so you know that “town water” is fluoridated in Halton Hills. The reason is to prevent tooth decay. Health Canada and World Health Organization support this statement and statistics show that dental decay rates are lower in communities with fluoridated water.Delegation of those protesting against fluoridation lead by Councillor Clark Somerville are opposing further fluoridation arguing that there is enough doubt that it can have harmful effects. Dr. Bob Nosal, Halton’s Medical Officer of Health said that much of what the delegations were saying is nonsense, exaggerations and misrepresentations of facts. Considering most households have water coolers and almost no one drinks the tap water is it really necessay to put fluoride in the water? Is it not already in every toothpaste? Please, use this forum to share your ideas and concerns about water fluoridation. We could all use more information on this subject.
