Did you know that toilet consumes approximately 30% of water in the house? You do not necessarily have to follow the “If it’s yellow let it mellow, if it’s brown flush it down.” rule (Cameron Diaz does) to reduce your water usage and save money on your water bill. Low flow toilet will do just fine and the Halton Region offers $60-$75 cash back if you install one.
Halton Approved 6 litre low flow toilets are eligible for $60 rebate, and high efficiency (4.8 litre) and dual flush (3 or 6 litres pre flush) models for $75 rebate. For the complete list of Halton Approved toilets click here, or ask your local retailer for a copy.
Am I eligible for the rebate? You are eligible for the rebate if you:
- own or rent a single family house - one toilet rebate per residence - toilet must be on the list of Halton Approved toilets - toilet must be installed before you submit the rebate form - only toilets purchased after January 1, 2007 are eligible - original sales receipt must be provided - both homes on municipal water and private wells are eligible
How do I apply for the rebate? You can submit the application form along with the original receipt (no photocopies) and if possible toilet box stickers showing the model number to:

The rebates will be issued within six to eight weeks of receiving your application.
