Bang-O-Rama Georgetownians traditionally celebrate Victoria Day at the Fairgrounds. The place fills up with merry-go-rounds, kid's activities and smiling faces. Petting Zoo and dog show are just some examples of family entertainment. Sunday night is the big bang-o-rama fireworks show, when people bring a lawn chairs and blankets and whole families come to watch the show.Georgetown Highland Games This annual festival is a celebration of Scottish heritage and takes place each June. Come and see the traditional dance performances, try some Scottish foods,watch heavyweight competitions and experience Scotland day right here in Georgetown. Ok, you may need to use just a bit of imagination but considering everywhere around you will be pipers dressed in the traditional kilts, pipe bands will be playing, it should not be that difficult. Hey, we may even have that strong north wind and you will really feel like on the top of the Wuthering Heights!Big Daddy Festival The 1st annual Big Daddy Festival will take place on the weekend of June 19-20, 2010 and will most likely become the biggest festival in Halton Hills.The festival is a community event celebrating dads with activities throughout Georgetown, Acton, Glen Williams, Norval, Limehouse and Bruce Trail. This is a great way of getting in touch with the community and connecting with local talent. There will plenty of concerts, classic car show, food and beer sampling, talent show, rides, movies in the park, and tons of other activities for kids and dads. The Festival on Main The Festival on Main traditionally starts the summer in the town. This year, it will join the Big Daddy - Father's Day Festival June 19-20, 2010. There will be lots of fun and live entertainment. A jumping castle, climbing wall, face painting and street vendors – anything you can think of.And when you are tired, relax with a cup of coffee, an ice cream or have lunch at one of the many downtown restaurants. The festival orinated in the early 1900's when travelling salesmen used to come knocking on the doors "drumming up business". In the summer all the salespeople would come to the town for a picnic/ parade called "The Drummer's Snack". That is the origin of the Festival of Main. It is a celebration of vendors, farmers and our community. Classics Against Cancer Each Fathers’ Day Cedarvale Park fills up the antique and classic road cars born before 1980. You will find High Performance, Hot Rods and Fat Fenders, Military Vehicles, Modified, Racers or Kit Car and lots of good old drive-in style food. But mom’s do not worry, whole families are welcome and there will be plenty of activities for the kids. Suggestion: ladies, how about wearing a t-shirt, a big puffy skirt with a wide belt and sneakers to create the whole “Rebel Without a Cause” atmosphere? This year's Classics will be a part of Big Daddy Festival.And what is the cause of Classics? The Classics Against Cancer car show is dedicated to raise money for the Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills. The money raised at fundraising events such as The Classics Against Cancer is used in the community to provide transportation, palliative care assistance, breast cancer pillows, equipment and supplies, prosthesis, respite assistance, emotional support and more for cancer patients in our community.The Lucy Maud Montgomery Festival Each summer the village of Norval celebrates the life and work of the woman who brought us Anne. Come to the L. M. Montgomery Heritage Garden (on Highway 7 in Norval) in the summer; or come celebrate Maud’s birthday at the Montgomery Christmas celebration. The famous author of “Anne of Green Gables” spent nine years of her life in the village of Norval while her husband, Rev. Organized by The Georgetown Agricultural Society the purpose of the Fair is to both educate, entertain, unite our community and celebrate our agricultural history.
