georgetown_400_3432010 was a busy year for Halton Hills. Numerous town projects were completed and municipal elections took place.

Here is the list of accomplished projects and main events that took place in Halton Hills in 2010.


Recreations and parks:
- six new major soccer fields added to the Trafalgar Sports Park
- The Hungry Hollow Trail Boardwalk in Georgetown completed
- The Superior Glove Splash Pad in Acton was opened
- The Greenwood Cemetery Memory Garden established
- The Field of Dreams project at Georgetown District High School completed
- The Armory Building become home of Globe Musical Productions and will undergo renovations
- The old Acton Town Hall renovation completed

Culture:
- the second annual Cultural Symposium took place in January 2010
- the first annual Big Daddy Festival took place on June 19-20, 2010
- the third annual Light up the Hills Festival took place on December 1, 2010

Infrastructure Services:

- the new Cycling Master Plan completed
- Edith Street Parking Lot constructed
- Wildwood Road
- the Town initiated new Transportation Master Plan to 2031

Library Services:
- great progress on the new Acton Library Branch (to be open in February 2011)

Community Services:
- Seniors Property tax Credit raised to $425 to help seniors stay in their own homes

Corporate Services Department:
- new Town of Halton Hills website
- developed new long term comprehensive financial plan

Fire Department:
- two new fire halls opened in Georgetown (up to LEED standards)
- the Town purchased two new fire pumper trucks
- the Risk Watch Program expanded

Planning and Development:
- the Town received water allocation of 1,200 single detached equivalents for new residential and non residential development (this will allow for over 1,000 residential units within the Georgetown area over the next three years).
- Acton received 100 single detached equivalents of water allocation for residential and industrial growth within Acton Urban area
-    Council developed a ”Green Checklist for New Residential
Development”
-    adoption of the new Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw
-    adoption of The GO Station Secondary Plan
-    adoption of a new Community Improvement Strategy to provide a basis for attracting new investment in key areas of the community
