Smart phones and Blackberry commercials advertise one thing - stay in touch with friends.
I woke up one morning to a world where it is essential to instant message to our friends, write on a wall that I am enjoying a nice cup of coffee, and where I absolutely have to rush home from a vacation and share my photos with the world. I am stalking so many people I’m surprised I didn’t get a restraining order.

I am blessed with hundreds of friends and they know so much about me. Yet, I don’t understand why is it that when we meet, we have nothing to talk about? I mean, they were so nice poking me on Facebook and sharing their favorite songs… They loved the picks from my vacation and said I look awesome. I commented on their family photos ( who would not? what a happy family). So what the heck is going on?

It seems that over the past 10 years we have moved to the land of Virtual where we live majority of our time. It is almost like we have this other identity and our best friend is not a person but a flat screen we are rushing to every morning to have coffee with. The truth is, we are not connecting with friends, we are isolating ourselves in the world of fake friendships, photos, causes…

I always look forward to the summer. It is the only time when people get out of their houses and leave their laptops behind. Now if they could only loose their smartphones … what a perfect world that would be.
